KinSlide: Family Photo SlideshowPrivacy Policy
Effective September 8, 2026
Applies to KinSlide (package com.apexdevsolns.slideshow) on Android
Overview
KinSlide (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a photo slideshow and digital-photo-frame app for Android, published by ApexDev Solutions. KinSlide displays photos from albums you choose in your own Google Photos library—it does not host, copy, or maintain a separate library of your photos on our servers.
This policy explains what data KinSlide accesses, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the free and premium (“KinSlide Premium”) versions of the app.
Google Photos access
KinSlide uses Google Sign-In and the Google Photos Picker / Library API to let you choose which albums appear in your slideshow. When you connect your Google account, KinSlide requests the following scopes:
| Scope | What it’s used for |
|---|---|
| photospicker.mediaitems.readonly | Lets you pick specific photos or albums to include in a slideshow. |
| photoslibrary.readonly.appcreateddata | Lets KinSlide re-fetch photos you've already selected, so shared albums stay in sync as new photos are added. |
KinSlide only ever reads the photos you explicitly select. It cannot browse your full library outside the picker, cannot see photos you haven’t chosen, and cannot delete, edit, or upload anything to your Google Photos account.
What we never do
Sell your photos or photo metadata, use your photos to train any model, or share your Google Photos data with advertisers.
Other data we collect
Beyond the Google Photos access above, KinSlide collects a limited amount of technical data:
- Purchase records—if you buy KinSlide Premium, Google Play Billing processes the transaction and tells the app your entitlement status. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- Crash and performance diagnostics—basic device information (Android version, device model) and crash logs, used only to fix bugs.
- Advertising identifiers—in the free version only, used by our ad partner as described in Section 4. Removing ads via KinSlide Premium stops this collection.
We do not collect your name, contact list, precise location, or any Google Photos data other than the albums you select.
Third-party services
KinSlide uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Photos API—to read the albums you select. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing—to process the one-time KinSlide Premium purchase.
- Google AdMob (free version only)—shows banner ads on the app’s management and settings screens. Ads never appear during slideshow playback. On first launch, KinSlide shows a consent form (via Google’s User Messaging Platform) where you can accept, limit, or decline personalized advertising, in line with applicable law.
Storage & retention
Photo images are streamed or cached temporarily on your device for smooth playback; KinSlide does not upload your photos to any server we operate. Your selected album list and app settings are stored locally on your device and, if you enable Android backup, as part of your device’s standard Google account backup.
If you uninstall KinSlide, locally cached photos and settings are removed with the app. Your original photos remain untouched in your Google Photos library.
Casting to a TV
KinSlide’s Chromecast feature sends selected photos directly from your phone or tablet to a Cast-enabled TV over your local Wi-Fi network. This requires Android’s local network permission to discover Cast devices on your network. Cast sessions are peer-to-peer on your own network—photos are not routed through any server we operate.
Your choices
- Revoke Google Photos access at any time from your Google Account permissions page, or from within KinSlide’s settings.
- Change your album selection at any time using the picker—KinSlide only retains access to what you’ve chosen.
- Opt out of personalized ads from the consent form shown on first launch, or later from KinSlide’s settings.
- Delete local app data from Android’s App Info screen, or by uninstalling KinSlide.
Children's privacy
KinSlide is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app is intended for use by the account holder to display their own family photos.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as KinSlide’s features change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above, and, where required, we’ll provide additional notice in the app.
